Xbox Series S Specifications Finally Revealed?

The Xbox Series S, or ‘Project Lockhart’, has been rumored for quite some time now. It will be a less powerful version of the Series X and will also reportedly be smaller and cheaper. It is not new for Microsoft to introduce a less powerful version of its primary console considering they released Xbox One S as an alternative to Xbox One. So far, we have a rough idea of how the Series S will look. But now, we also may have the exact specifications for the console.

According to TweakTown, these are what the specifications for the console will reportedly look like. They compared the Series X to Series S and it looks fairly decent for a ‘less-powerful’ console. Take a look at it below:

But a certain piece of information, missing here, was provided to us by Tom  Warren, Editor at The Verge.

Xbox Series S exclusives coming our way?

This is great! The specs look amazing for a lesser console. The CPU is the same for both the consoles, which puts Series S slightly above the PS5, in terms of computing power.

But there is an interesting thing to notice here. If you check the backwards compatibility row, you’ll notice the Series S column does not mention Series X exclusives. Does this mean the Series X exclusives won’t be compatible with the Series S? Or are we going to see Series S exclusives as well?

If the Series S doesn’t support the Series X exclusives, then its existence becomes pointless. Hopefully, we’re just reading incorrectly between the lines and this is not the case.

We now know for a fact that the Series exists thanks to a controller leak. Yes, a few people were able to get their hands on the Series X controller. The controller’s box also said it was compatible with Series S.

Microsoft has announced that Series X will launch in November. There were also reports of Phil Spencer announcing an Xbox event for August but that hasn’t materialized yet. A lot of questions still remain here but hopefully, we’ll get our answers soon enough.
