Microsoft has managed pre-orders for the Xbox Series S and X superbly, especially compared to Sony’s fiasco. Timings, links, and names of the retailers were all made available to the customers much in advance. This will definitely sit well with the fans and will earn the company a lot of goodwill.

Xbox Series X and S will now have Bethesda games available to them on day 1, probably before any other platform

Microsoft has also given potential customers some added incentive for buying their next-gen console. The company announced yesterday that had bought ZeniMax Inc. for a cool $7.5 bn. This adds the likes of Bethesda, Arkane, Tango, and many more studios to the Xbox Game Studio. Games like DOOM Eternal, The Elder Scrolls, Wolfenstein, etc. have now become a part of the Xbox family and this could spell trouble for Sony.

Along with this, Xbox has also added games from all these studios to its Game Pass service, which is a huge deal. Additionally, games from EA Play will also be available from day 1, at no additional cost for Game Pass subscribers. This is a potentially industry-changing move by Microsoft as they look towards long-term success.

Sony, on the other hand, is still going for the age-old console-first approach. They still want customers to pay the full price for next-gen games, rather than making them available as a part of a subscription model. This could be worrisome, considering accessibility and inclusivity will be the crux of the gaming industry soon. Not everyone will be able to afford the games, which is where Xbox takes home the win. With its cheaper Xbox Series S, clubbed with a $9.99 monthly Game Pass subscription, it is definitely the most sustainable option available.
