Xbox Series X|S is a Huge Financial Success for Microsoft and the Numbers are Proof

Xbox Series X| S’s high demand has led to an overall increase in gaming revenue for Microsoft. On 27th Oct 2021, Microsoft shared the gaming revenue breakdown for the first quarter of 2021. The company witnessed a 16% surge in gaming revenue as compared to the first quarter of 2020. For the past few years, Xbox hardware has witnessed a 166% increase in revenue because of the high demand for the X&S series. Xbox exclusives and Game Pass subscriptions achieved a 2% growth in revenue as compared to the previous year.

This achievement of the gaming division of the company also overwhelmed Microsoft’s first Indian CEO, Satya Nadella. On this occasion, the CEO said ” This holiday season will bring our biggest line-up of content and exclusive games ever, with three new triple-A titles including Halo Infinite available via the Xbox Game Pass subscription service, which continues to offer the best value in gaming.”

Xbox: What More To Expect In The Coming year:-

This festival season has a lot of new content on its way to Xbox as confirmed by the CEO. The new content will include a few AAA games which will also be accessible through Xbox Game Pass Service. It looks like Microsoft has some amazing plans to celebrate this milestone with their fans. The game pass subscription is already considered one of the best gaming services available today in the market. The Game Pass is all set to release nine new games in the month of October. On 28th Oct 2021, six new games are going to be added, and here’s a list of those games:-

  • Age of Empires 4 (PC)
  • Alan Wake’s American Nightmare (PC, Console)
  • Backbone (Console)
  • Bassmaster Fishing 2022 (PC, Cloud, Console)
  • Nongunz: Doppelganger Edition (PC, Cloud, Console)
  • The Forgotten City (PC, Cloud, Console)

Amy Hood, who is the chief financial officer in Microsoft, said “In gaming, on a high prior year comparable that included the launch of our new consoles and strength across Xbox content and services, we expect revenue growth in the high single digits”

“And in Xbox content and services, we expect revenue growth in the mid-teens with strong engagement on the Xbox platform in a holiday quarter that will include several triple-A title launches.”
