“Yet Another Honour”: Emma Raducanu Attains a Milestone Following US Open 2021 Success

British tennis player Emma Raducanu has had a dream start to her career. After doing the unthinkable towards the end of the season, the teenager has been in the limelight for all the right reasons. 

Recently, Emma Raducanu was honored as the Sportswoman of the Year by the Sunday Times in Great Britain. After performing exceptionally well this season, it would’ve been hard to rule to 19-year-old from contention.

Emma Raducanu caught the attention at the All England Club

It all began during the Wimbledon Championships when Emma made it to the second week of the competition. Her performances were well noticed by fans and pundits of the game. 

Sadly, she had to withdraw during her fourth-round match, as she was not feeling physically fit to compete to the best of her abilities. As a result, she had to retire from the match.

She then competed in a few Challenger-level tournaments and performed exceedingly well in those events. Next up was the US Open. She won the tournament without dropping a set.

During the course of the competition, she beat top players such as Belinda Bencic. She continued her dream run and went on to beat the Greek tennis star Maria Sakkari and then Leylah Fernandez in the finals.

One must not forget that Raducanu had to go through the qualifying rounds and managed to win her three qualifying matches without dropping a set. It was her first appearance at Flushing Meadows.

However, she fired her coach after winning her first Grand Slam title and things have not gone according to plan. She appointed a new coach, Torben Beltz. Now that the season is over, we wish her all the best for the upcoming 2022 season.
