Nick Kyrgios has a polarising personality as far as tennis experts and fans are concerned. His on-court performances at the Australian Open 2021 were commendable, but his antics have made him prone to criticism. But Kyrgios doesn’t care much about others’ opinions.

Tennis legend Martina Navratilova spoke about Kyrgios on the eve of his match against Dominic Thiem. And with Kyrgios’ ongoing feud with Novak Djokovic, Navratilova had some pertaining questions.

“As tennis players you get thrust into the adult life early on before you’re really ready for it emotionally and so the emotional growth comes in bits and pieces and it’s delayed really.
“So I think this way, give him a chance maybe to catch up. I don’t know if he’s a good bad guy or a bad good guy,” Navratilova said.
With the above questions on Kyrgios’ emotions and maturity, the player himself responded to it. Writing in all caps, Kyrgios showed his disagreement with Navratilova in a tweet.

Martina Navratilova on Nick Kyrgios’ potential
Furthermore, Navratilova admitted that Kyrgios had great potential and has done a lot off the court. However, she opined that Kyrgios will need a coach to realize his true potential.
“We respect his potential more than we respect what he’s done on the tennis court, but off the court he has been a really really good guy.

“Absolutely everybody knows everybody needs a coach. If you want to get the most out of your game, you need a coach.”
