‘You Tell Him to Stop’: Chair Umpire Warns Stefanos Tsitsipas as Father Apostolos Coaches During Australian Open 2022 R4

Greek tennis star Stefanos Tsitsipas is one of the most exciting prospects in men’s tennis. There are a few players who are tipped to dominate the men’s tour after the “Big 3” give way, and the World No. 4 player is one of those athletes. 

Currently, Tsitsipas is competing in the Australian Open 2022. He has played an amazing few matches so far, managing to play with real intent during crunch situations.

Stefanos Tsitsipas is in a mess yet again

However, there was a situation that was not new for the Greek star, as he was called out by the chair umpire for receiving coaching tips from his father, which is against the rules. Due to that, Stefanos received a code violation. 

It did not stop there as Apostolos (Stefanos’ father and coach) still continued to give instructions and disobeyed the umpire’s orders. There came a point at which the umpire said to Stefanos, “You tell him [to stop], or I’m going to keep giving codes.”

In the past, Tsitsipas has been accused by other players of receiving strategic instructions during the matches. At times, he has also allegedly taken longer than usual bathroom breaks, which result in disrupting the momentum of the opponent.

Coming to tennis, Tsitsipas is currently involved in a five-set thriller against American talent Taylor Fritz. At the moment, both players are leveled at 3-3 in the final set.

The winner of this match will be up against Italian tennis star Jannik Sinner in the quarets. By no means will that match be an easy task for whichever player wins today. 

Nonetheless, we wish both players the best of luck for the remainder of the match. The Australian Open 2022 men’s quarterfinal matches will be played tomorrow and the day after. We wish all players the best of luck in the upcoming days.
