The treats just keep rolling in for Jets fans. It’s been over a week since Aaron Rodgers landed in New York as their new quarterback. And the Gang Green hasn’t found the time to stop celebrating. Things just got sweeter as the New York Jets released an official training clip featuring their brand new 4x NFL MVP passer throwing a dime to one of their star wide receivers. However, one question seemed to be on everyone’s mind in the comments section. Where is Zach Wilson?
Jets fans couldn’t spot their second overall pick from the 2020 NFL Draft, Zach Wilson, anywhere in the training video. The signal-caller didn’t end the last season on the best terms with his teammates. And the comment section was filled with speculations on whether he will be present at all on the Jets sideline, come the 2023 season.

Fans predict a grim future for Zach Wilson

The Jets ended the 2022 season with a 7-10 record. Future franchise QB1, 23-year-old Zach Wilson got benched after an underwhelming performance. This pushed Woody Johnson and Joe Douglas to rope in 39-year veteran and Super Bowl XLV MVP, Aaron Rodgers. The former Green Bay Packers passer didn’t waste any time as the Jets published an Instagram video of Rodgers doing some throwing practice with 2022’s Offensive Rookie of the Year, Garrett Wilson.

Sporting his fresh New York hair cut, Rodgers threw some dimes to Wilson. However, more than Rodgers’ throwing prowess, fans noticed the absence of Wilson. “Now show Zach,” one fan commented. Judging by A-Rod’s throwing accuracy, one fan predicted, “Zach isn’t even touching the field.” However, Wilson was present at the Atlantic Health Jets Training Center, as seen in the images posted later. Overall, the mood in the comments section looked to be one of excitement and anticipation.

I don’t even want summer no more. Give me football season,” one eager Gang Green member wrote after watching A-Rod in action. Another fan perfectly summarized the emotions. “Enough to make a grown man cry,” he said.

Zach and Aaron Rodgers have already had their first back-and-forth

Despite a lacklustre display on the field, Zach Wilson refused to shy away from the media last year. After incurring the wrath of his defense following his press comments after a regular season game, Wilson also had some hostile words of encouragement for any veteran QB the franchise decided to get. “I’m going to make that dude’s life hell in practice every day,” Wilson had said. Rodgers had a befitting reply ready during his introductory Jets press conference.

He’s going to make my life hell in practice, and I’m going to make his life heaven off the field,” Rodgers said. This was likely meant for the New York media attention that Rodgers will get, taking the pressure spotlight away from Wilson.
Aaron Rodgers also wished to mentor Wilson and for the young passer to imbibe as much as he can from him. The same way Rodgers learned from another former Packers and Jets quarterback; Brett Favre. Can A-Rod and Wilson work in harmony to bring a Super Bowl to New York?
