Zaheer Khan, arguably India’s best left armer in both ODI and Tests declared his retirement without playing the farewell match. Everyone wanted to see him back in Indian jersey for one last time. Fortunately, fans got to see him during the last decider of India-South Africa ODI series.

Zaheer Khan was felicitated with a momento by Mumbai Cricket Association, presented by none other than the God of cricket -Sachin Tendulkar. He announced his retirement on October 15. Zaheer, who played a lot of cricket for Mumbai Ranji team and Mumbai Indians in IPL after shifting base from Baroda, was an emotional man in front of the crowd, who had just witnessed India’s 214-run loss to South Africa, as he thanked all his well-wishers, team-mates and coaches who has been associated with him throughout his career.

“I’m going to miss cricket matches and those celebrations with the team-mates. But I have to move on, with all those so many happy memories in my career,” he said while addressing the packed crowd in presence of Sachin Tendulkar, MCA chief Sharad Pawar and BCCI Secretary Anurag Thakur.

“I am very happy to retire. I had not thought that I would go this far and achieve so much in my career. I don’t think I have one link missing in my career. I will continue to be associated with the game in future also in some capacity,” he added.
