Whats the Matter?

Real Madrid has had a tough start to the season. Los Blancos have a lot of trust in Zidane. But Real Madrid President Florentino Perez is not willing to take the risk of keeping him at the club for long if it doesn’t see the team winning trophies.

As per reports in Express, the Los Blancos are in talks with Carlo Ancelotti to take over from Zidane at the end of the season. The Italian is unemployed right now following his sacking from Bayern Munich earlier this season.

Heart of the Matter…

Carlo Ancelotti managed Real Madrid for 2 years before he was sacked. He won the Champions League, Copa Del Rey, FIFA Club World Cup and the UEFA Super Cup. But a trophyless 2nd season saw him getting sacked.

Florentino Perez believes that Ancelotti will be the right man to get Madrid back on track. Los Blancos suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Barcelona. They are 14 points behind the Catalan side right now.

Zidane was severely criticized for playing Mateo Kovacic instead of Isco.

Ancelotti did not win the league title at Madrid during his first term at Madrid. Real Madrid believes he will come back to complete his unfinished business. La Liga is the only domestic league title he has not won in the countries he has managed.

Editors’ take…

Real Madrid fans have a lot of respect for Carlo but the Madridistas are not in favor of Zidane getting the sack. They want the club to get rid of Karim Benzema and other non-performing players in the squad before taking a decision on the manager’s future.

It’s highly improbable to see Ancelotti head back to Madrid. He’s being courted by Chelsea and he will take time to decide what to do. He has rejected a big money offer from China and also refused from taking over the Italian National Team.
