Furthermore, the Texas studio will work in tandem with NaturalMotion, a Zynga-subsidiary.  With this expansion coming into play, Zynga requires additional helping hands for its cause. Therefore, the studio is hiring enthusiastic individuals to fill in positions like Lead Engineer, Design Director, and Lead Level Designer. A total of 25 positions are currently vacant. Veterans of the industry, Jeff Hickman and Matthew Hemby will lead this studio with the new recruits.

Hickman revealed his plans for recruiting in an exclusive interview with GamesBeat.

“[Zynga CEO] Frank Gibeau and I talked and asked ourselves why we weren’t tapping into the awesome talent in Austin, including those who used to work for us at EA. We have all of these connections to super-talented people.”

A resident of Austin himself, Hickman believes the city will provide for his needs in the studio. The pandemic, he believes, has made it difficult to work more than ever. Though the positions are open for anyone across the globe, for the time being they are looking nearby.

When is the new Star Wars game coming?

NaturalMotion acquired the rights of Star Wars: Commander a couple of years ago from Disney. They had promised to develop a mobile game based on the franchise back then. No further news had emanated from the studio since then.

But with a new studio working alongside NaturalMotion, the future does not seem bleak anymore. Though Hickman did not mention the game particularly, he sounded optimistic about the prospect.

“The team is killing it, and the game is looking great. One of the reasons I came over to NaturalMotion and to Zynga was because of the kind of games that we were working on. Mobile is a platform just like console is a platform for games. When you pick up one of these games, you should see graphics and gameplay that makes you go, ‘Wow.’”

All we fans have to do now is wait patiently for the experts to work it out and reveal more about this upcoming Star Wars mobile title.
