Pittsburgh High School prospect Jaden Rashada has caused a huge stir in the world of college football. He has been touted to be the next big thing in the world of football and has already been compared to some big names connected to the sport. Rashada was all set to represent the University of Florida and play for the Gators. Moreover, he was awarded a huge NIL deal which seemed outrageous for a teenager. However, the reality turned out to be quite different and this sent a buzz across the world of sports. Recently, NBA legend Charles Barkley chimed in on the Rashada debate.

The NBA Hall of Famer is one of the wisest personalities when it comes to basketball and even other sports. He gave his thoughts on the whole Rashada situation and bashed the outrageous deal given out by Florida in the first place.

Florida Gators coach Billy Napier has a huge task on his hands. His team is in desperate need of a quarterback and it seems Jaden Rashada was the answer to their problems.

The number 7 ranked quarterback by ESPN was awarded a four-year $ 13-million NIL deal and a chance to play for the University. While everything looked perfect, the deal between Gator Collective and Rashada fell apart. As a result, he didn’t enroll in the University. Addressing the issue on The Steam Room podcast, Barkley chimed in on the debate and gave his two cents.

Barkley said, “How in the world could Florida promise that kid $13 million before he stepped foot on a university? Coach Saban just spoke at a luncheon and he said this is my biggest problem with all this stuff. He says yeah, some kid asked me for $800,000 and another kid asked me for $500,000.They’ve never set foot in Tuscaloosa, he says. There’s no way in the he** I’m gonna give y’all $1.3 million and y’all. “

Rashada had previously rejected the Miami Hurricanes following their poor season. After ditching yet another top team, the youngster has finally made up his mind. He will be joining Arizona State University.

The Gators have made some emergency signings to make up for Rashada

Losing out on a top prospect is tough, especially for a team needing improvements in a particular position. To make up for Rashada’s absence, the Florida Gators have brought in Graham Mertz from Wisconsin. He will be starting alongside Jack Miller III.

Moreover, they have their eyes on Walker Howard, the LSU quarterback. The 2023 college football schedule is projected to start on week zero on the 26th of August.
