“McGregor Made Ireland Look Like Royalty”- Jon Jones Labels Israel Adesanya ‘A Soft African Man’

Israel Adesanya and Jon Jones have gone ballistic on Twitter. The platform hasn’t seen two high-profile athletes openly beef like this in a long time. However, the Jones-Adesanya twitter beef seems to be getting uglier by the day. From Jones bringing up Izzy’s father to Adesanya responding with a tasteless comment about Jones’ dead mother, there’s no topic that the two have left untouched.
Their feud took another step in the dangerous direction with their latest comments. Jones made a relatively politically incorrect statement on how Adesanya’s antics have left behind a negative impression of African men. He used Conor McGregor and what his rise did for Ireland as a comparison.
McGregor came and made Ireland look like royalty. You came and made African men look soft. Get the fuck out of here

It is well known that Adesanya has served as an ambassador for Nigeria as a fighter. He and Kamaru Usman have addressed what their success means for their communities. Another African in Francis Ngannou has been succeeding for a while and is waiting for a fight against Jones or Stipe Miocic.
Izzy responded by sharing a gif of himself after his win over Paulo Costa.

Jones making himself the spokesperson of African men was uncalled for. However, that is still tame considering the things that have already been said in this feud. Izzy brought up Jones’s drug and DWI arrests, even sharing videos and pictures. But Jones has been slandering Izzy as well, sharing videos and pictures of Adesanya’s only knockout loss as a kickboxer.
Izzy also brought up how Jones is yet to fight Francis Ngannou. People have been speculating whether Jones is committed to his move to heavyweight. Out of his latest targets on Twitter, none of them are heavyweights.

Jones and Adesanya should just fight and find a resolution to this feud. These twitter feuds may help with visibility but leaves a sour taste of the sport. However, the entertainment value of two high-level fighters going at each other like this is not easy to find anywhere else.
It is time they take this off Twitter and into the cage. Izzy at least has a direct goal in the sport right now. Jones relinquished his Light Heavyweight strap and is yet to be booked for a heavyweight fight. Adesanya is looking to clear out his division before moving up for a fight with Jones.
