“2–3 Years for Sure”: Simona Halep Quashes Retirement Rumours

Romanian tennis star Simona Halep has been one of the most influential players on the WTA Tour. However, in the recent past, she has been troubled by injuries. After a calf injury in a May, Halep has missed out on a considerable chunk of the 2021 season.
Simona Halep was forced to withdraw from the French Open and the Wimbledon Championships this season, along with the Tokyo Olympics. She’s currently competing at the Kremlin Cup and is through to the tournament quarter-finals. Recently, the Romanian star questioned about retirement as speculation arose due to her injuries.

The 30-year-old fired back and stated, “I never said I would retire. I just said that I was injured and I had to stay out as much as possible to recover. I’m not thinking about retirement. It was a pretty busy year, it was a beautiful year with all the aspects. I’m enjoying life, I feel good and happy. I’m thinking to play more, like 2-3 years for sure.”
Simona Halep had a memorable 2021
Despite being on the sidelines, Halep had a lot to be delighted about this year. She got married to Toni Iuruc in September this year after the US Open. The tennis star shared a slew of pictures from her wedding ceremony and subsequent party on social media. The couple got married in Constanta, Romania.

She does accept that it has been a heavy year for her but at the same time, insisted that she is in a happy space at the moment and wishes to compete for a few more years at least.
