For a very, very long time, Ferrari has always been associated with the colour red. They even have their own special colour, specific to their cars, road or motorsport. However, if certain rumours are to be taken at face value, the 2018 Ferrari F1 livery will be a deeper shade of red than usual.

The report came on the back of Aston Martin Red Bull launching its new car on Monday. It featured a stunning black, white and blue livery. However, that livery is only temporary and will likely be replaced by next week in Barcelona. But it did not stop driver, Daniel Ricciardo from showering it with praises. He said that the car looked “very cool today.”

With regard to the new Ferrari, Italian journalist, Giorgio Terruzzi revealed that the tone of red is expected to be darker. He believes that the potential livery change will be prompted by the departure of sponsor Santander. Terruzzi also said that the 2018 livery will also feature less white. To put it in perspective, it will possibly resemble the shade of red seen on the 312 car of 1969.

Meanwhile, British outfit McLaren, are now widely tipped to move to all orange colour scheme for 2018. F1 double world champion, Fernando Alonso was the first driver to lay eyes on the car this week. He said: “It’s very beautiful, I think you’ll like it. Everything is ready for the winter test”. McLaren are currently preparing for a fresh new take to their season after 3 years of toiling with Honda.

Coming back to the 2018 Ferrari F1 car, the Italian team will be launching on the same day as their arch rivals, Mercedes. Also, with Haas, Red Bull, Alfa Romeo Sauber, Williams and Renault all launching their cars, only five teams are left. Ferrari, McLaren, Mercedes, Toro Rosso and Force India are yet to bring their cars out from under wraps.
