2021 NFL Draft: 49ers GM John Lynch Comfortable With Quarterback Prospects

The 2021 NFL Draft is scheduled to begin on April 29th, 2021. Unlike last year when the draft was virtual, this time it will be held in Ohio under strict COVID-19 measures. The GM John Lynch-led San Francisco 49ers will play a major role at this year’s draft.
The Red and Gold raised eyebrows last weekend by trading up to acquire the 3rd overall pick from AFC East franchise Miami Dolphins.
They had to give up three 1st-round picks and a 2022 compensatory 3rd-round pick. At the risk of taking a jibe at experienced quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, the 49ers are in the mix to draft a quarterback this summer.

Speaking to the media ahead of the highly anticipated 2021 NFL Draft, San Francisco 49ers GM John Lynch spoke about how there was a host of top quarterback prospects to choose from this year.
“We don’t have intel on what’s going on. I think those two teams have been pretty forthright. Urban Meyer’s been on record, they were there watching Trevor at Clemson.

“Who knows what’s happening with the Jets? Ultimately, the decision we made is we were very comfortable with this group of players at the top of the draft,” Lynch said.

Despite contrary reports, we believe the 49ers have set their hearts on Ohio State shot-caller Justin Fields. Justin Fields has thrown for 5,373 yards with 63 passing TDs during his 2-year stay in Ohio. He further rushed for 867 yards with 15 rushing TDs to his name.
The 22-year old earned rave reviews for his eye-catching displays with the Buckeyes. But he could not lead them to the CFP National Championship title earlier this year. They lost to Nick Saban’s Alabama Crimson Tide Football Team in the final by a 52-24 scoreline.
