So Nico Rosberg cruised to his fourth consecutive  victory in the Russian Grand Prix with his first Grand Slam, but a lot of things happened behind him. Some ugly, some very exciting. Here we present you 5 memes to summarize yesterday’s race:

1. For the first time this season, both McLaren Hondas finished in the points which is huge considering their results in the 2015 edition of the Russian Grand Prix 6 months ago showcasing the massive gains they’ve made.

Alonso finished P6 and set the fifth fastest time of the race which he later described as something he did merely to wake himself up. Jenson Button having caught up in the start battled to finish P10 taking on Toro Rosso’s Sainz in the final few laps.

2. It was probably the messiest start one could have imagined. There was action in between with Vettel spinning, and Red Bull parts flying here and there and even more at the back with the two Force Indias, Rio Haryanto’s Manor and Esteban Gutierrez’s Haas all caught up in the mix. Some survived, but three of them got out of the race because of this.

3. The man who made sure no one missed Pastor Maldonado, the homeboy Daniil Kvyat. Having taken a bashing from Vettel in the last race in Shanghai, Kvyat hit him twice on the first lap itself first on Turn 2, then again on Turn 3, who in turn went on to hit Daniel Ricciardo. Both Red Bull cars were heavily damaged. Sebastian Vettel’s race was after the Turn 3 incident only.

He not only received bashing from Vettel, his own teammate demanded an apology from Kvyat. Red Bull could have scored big this race if not for the Russian’s carelessness.

Vettel was so furious he was swearing heavily on the team radio post the crash and later went on to see Christian Horner in the Red Bull garage as well.
