EssentiallySports is one of the Top 10 sports publishers in the United States (Comscore), trusted by more than 30 million fans every month. As an independent sports media platform, we deliver fan-first coverage with original reporting, exclusive interviews, and cultural storytelling that go beyond highlights and scores. We cover the stories mainstream outlets leave behind, giving fans the voices and perspectives they cannot find anywhere else.

Our coverage spans every corner of U.S. sports, from the biggest stages to the moments that fuel fan communities. Through in-depth features, breaking stories, and athlete interviews, our editorial team creates content that connects with fans, shapes conversations, and captures the culture of sports as it happens.

We also publish a network of newsletters spanning across NASCAR, Golf, WNBA, Track & Field, Tennis, and the NFL, reaching more than one million subscribers daily.

With speed, scale, and cultural insight, we deliver coverage that feels as immediate as the fandom driving it.

OurVision

We are the home for the underserved fan, delivering storytelling that goes beyond the headlines. As a media platform, we combine deep audience insights with cultural trends, to meet fandom where it lives and where it goes next.

OurOrigins

EssentiallySports was founded in 2014 by three college students, Harit Pathak, Jaskirat Arora, and Suryansh Tibarewal, who saw how mainstream outlets focused on the biggest leagues while leaving many athletes, sports, and fan communities without the coverage they deserved. With just $150, a dorm room blog, and a handful of Facebook groups, they began publishing stories between classes and uploading them wherever they could find a Wi-Fi signal. The audience was small at first but fiercely loyal, and those early fans did more than read. They debated, shared, and helped the community grow.

That scrappy start proved the power of fan-first coverage. Within a few years, EssentiallySports had become the most-read tennis site on SimilarWeb, even surpassing the ATP’s official page, while also building passionate motorsports communities before Formula 1 went mainstream in the United States. What began in a dorm room has since grown into one of the Top 10 sports publishers in the country, but the mission remains the same: putting the fan first.

Events andActivations

Our coverage extends beyond the page to the biggest moments in sports culture. We have partnered with Procter & Gamble at the Olympics, brought fans closer to the action at NASCAR event in Pocono , and been on the ground with Natasha Howard as their athlete correspondent to cover WNBA All-Star Weekend 2025. Each activation connects digital storytelling with live experiences, ensuring fans are not just spectators but part of the story itself.
