FTR has had one of the best runs they could have asked for in AEW. Their reign as Tag Team Champions ended at Full Gear after a blockbuster of a match against The Young Bucks.

Emerging as one of the best Tag Teams in professional Wrestling currently, FTR is on Cloud 9. It makes you wonder if at any point WWE regrets not holding on to them.

Apparently, this may be the case. In a recent interview with talkSPORT, Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood of FTR revealed that Triple H tried hard to hold on to them for NXT and that there were serious negotiations.

“There were talks with us and Triple H to go back to NXT and they tried very hard to keep us. It was all professional and all respectful and we were very gracious to the offers we got and to what Triple H was going to provide for us, but ultimately, we knew that our time in WWE was over at that time,” said Harwood.

Known as The Revival in WWE, Wheeler, and Harwood had a very memorable run in NXT. This is why it was a tempting offer to return to the brand.

Poor booking and a lack of faith drove FTR away from WWE

However, the forgettable memories in the main roster followed by poor booking made FTR turn their backs on WWE once and for all. The Tag Team was touted to be the next Arn and Tully, but Vince McMahon was not convinced.

“Once we got pulled from all of our dates on the main roster, it was down to NXT as the option and we talked to Hunter at length, there were offers on the table that were very tempting because we loved NXT and we loved our time there,” admitted Wheeler.

“But at the end of the day, like Dax said, we knew that our time there was done. We didn’t want to go back to the past – we’d done that. We wanted to come here [AEW].”

FTR has been extremely mesmerizing and delivered one of the best Tag-Team matches in the division’s history. Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood are in the most competitive Tag Team division in professional wrestling currently. What’s better is that they are being managed by the one and only Tully Blanchard.

It goes without saying that they are right up there at the top.
