The 2022 Laver Cup marked the end of an illustrious career of Roger Federer. The Swiss maestro has played consistently at the top level since the beginning of this century. During this period, Federer managed to capture 20 Grand Slam singles titles. Additionally, he has numerous other big titles to his credit, as well.
His recent retirement announcement left every tennis fan emotional. Such has been the greatness of the former world number one over the years. His eye-catching displays were a treat for every tennis fan across the globe. As Federer bid adieu to the sport, tennis fans couldn’t hold back their tears.

The two legends of tennis were spotted sitting on their seats and were in tears after playing their last match together. Fans were also left emotional after watching them.

After playing the last match of his career, Federer acknowledged everyone present in the stadium. While doing so, Federer was spotted sobbing as he couldn’t hold back his tears. As the Swiss maestro said his goodbyes, fans reacted to his ‘Last Dance’ at the tournament.

Playing doubles with Rafael Nadal in his last match at the Laver Cup, Federer didn’t have an ideal ending to his career. The duo went down fighting against Team World’s Jack Sock and Frances Tiafoe.
Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal began the match dominantly, winning the first set 6-4. However, Sock and Tiafoe came back strongly to level the match by winning the second set 7-6 (2). In the match tiebreaker, Team World won points at crucial junctures to prevail 11-9.

Federer thanks his fellow players
After the match, the Swiss maestro acknowledged his fellow players for making his ‘Last Dance’ memorable. He said, “I am so happy I made it through. The match was great. I couldn’t be happier. It’s been wonderful.”
Further, he added, “And, of course, playing with Rafa [Nadal] on the same team and having the guys, everybody here, all the legends.”

Subsequently, he also thanked his wife Mirka and his parents for their contributions to his career. The Swiss maestro will now look to spend quality time with his family after his retirement from tennis.
