Andy Murray Suggests Interesting Changes to Wimbledon Championships 2022 Schedule

The two-time Wimbledon champion, Andy Murray, recently expressed his disappointment at the newly announced Wimbledon 2022 schedule. The officials have scheduled Round of 16 matches to be played between Sunday and Monday. Moreover, there will be an early mixed double final.
For the first time in 2022, Wimbledon is going to conduct matches on middle Sunday. The English Grand Slam is leaving a time-honored tradition and joining the other three Slams in its format. Former champion, Murray, has raised concerns about the dates for the mixed double event.

Andy Murray expresses his frustration at Wimbledon 2022 schedule
Just a few days ago, Wimbledon released their schedule for the 2022 tournament. Surprisingly, there’s a small change in the dates of the competition. Due to decreased size in the mixed doubles event, the officials have decided to move the final to the second Thursday of the event.
Following this declaration, Andy Murray shared his opinion on the subject. Murray said, “Top players who have lost early In singles would be more inclined to play mixed in this scenario I believe. Right now the sign in for mixed is on Wednesday morning I think..so only top singles players who have lost in the first round may decide to play.”

After three long years, Andy Murray returned to the singles competition at Wimbledon 2021. Since 2017, Murray had been struggling with an extremely concerning hip injury. The former World No. 1 had an impressive start to the campaign at his favorite Slam. In the first round, he defeated the Georgian Nikoloz Basilashvili in four sets.
Murray faced a challenging second-round opponent. Despite trailing behind by 2-1 sets against Oscar Otte, Murray gathered the courage to surpass the German in a marathon five-set match. However, in the following round, Denis Shapovalov crumbled the dreams of Andy Murray, registering a straight set victory.

The Brit has triumphed at Wimbledon championships in 2013 and 2016. This year, Murray has been performing like a true fighter, so it will be interesting to see how Murray approaches the 2022 season.
