Talk about the greatest men’s tennis players over the last two decades and the likes of Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic will be on the top of your list. Such has been the greatness of the duo that they are often the talking point in the GOAT debate. While Federer called an end to his career last year, Djokovic is still going strong at 36. Recently, Djokovic claimed a big honor that proves his domination over Federer.

The Serb had one of the most memorable seasons of his illustrious tennis career this year. He clinched 3 out of the 4 Grand Slam titles and won many other big tournaments. Let’s talk about the award that Djokovic received recently and how he reigns over Federer in this regard.

Recently, the 24-time Grand Slam champion, Djokovic, was named the ATP Player of the Year for the 2023 season. It was no surprise as he dominated over his rivals this year, winning tournament after tournament. Further, this victory also gave Djokovic an edge in the GOAT debate, as he has won this award several times over his rivals. Over the past two decades, the Serb has lifted this trophy an astonishing eight times. On the other hand, Federer has managed to win it on five occasions. This bewildering stat puts Djokovic far ahead in the debatable GOAT debate, which has been the subject of discussion for many years. Similarly, Rafael Nadal has also won this award five times in the last 20 years.

During an interview, the tennis bigwig talked about his best player on the tour. McEnroe felt that Djokovic was far ahead of his rivals, Federer and Nadal when it came to the GOAT debate. He had an interesting viewpoint on the greatness of Djokovic.

Opening up about this, he said, “It’s not easy to get the better of Novak, if you ever do, the Djoker always finds a way to punch back. That’s why he is the most resilient player. Novak isn’t just the best, he’s the best of all time.”
