Ben Shelton to make huge career choice before the US Open

During the post-match interview after his win over Ruud, Shelton was asked whether he would go back to college or turn pro after the US Open Series. Replying to this question, Shelton said, “Yeah, it’s definitely a conversation that I am going to have with my parents after this tournament when I go back home to Gainesville. So, hopefully, that happens over the next week or so and I’ll like to make a decision before the US Open whether it’s going pro or going back to college.”

Shelton was dominant right from the word go in his match against Ruud. He broke the Norwegian’s serve in the second game of the opening set to take a 2-0 lead. Subsequently, he went on to hold his serves to win the first set 6-3.
