In a recent interview with a Spanish outlet, he opened up about how the consequences of the injury and the disease, at the same time, destroyed his body. He said, “It destroys my body: everything else has been destructured to try to save my foot. I was able to save it, but the rest has unbalanced me. And what ends up destroying me is having more pain than necessary on a daily basis.”
He also opened up about how, apart from this, he has faced different kinds of pains in his life. Nadal added, “There are limiting pains, yes, and others off the track; those kill you. Because I have to be happy off the track. Inside, things can turn out better or worse, it’s sport.”

Even after facing an injury that stopped him from walking at the age of 22, the former world number one didn’t give up, and even today is one of the toughest competitors to beat on the court. Nevertheless, there have been a series of injuries he has endured during his tennis career.

The most horrifying injuries faced by Nadal
Even though he has won 22 Grand Slam titles, his has seen a fair share of hiccups in his career. His first injury came just two years after his debut, in 2003. The first time he suffered a grave injury was when he missed the French Open because of an injured elbow. The very next year, it was a stress fracture in his ankle that made him miss the French Open and Wimbledon too.
2009 was even worse, when he suffered multiple physical problems and injuries, starting with an abdominal injury and some tendinitis in his knees. In 2012, he was missed the Olympics and the rest of the season because of a left knee problem. Even after facing a problem with his foot for years, he was able to have a successful 2022 tennis season, but then he was out for the whole season, leading to multiple problems.
