Denis Shapovalov Trains With Bjorn Borg’s Son in Sweden

Denis Shapovalov turned pro in 2017, and in 3 years, cracked into the Top 10. Having a single-handed lefty backhand, 22-year has often pushed the top players to their limits when competing against him.
On 3rd January, Denis Shapovalov was in Sweden for a training session with his coach Jamie Delgado. However, they were joined by tennis legend Bjorn Borg’s son, Leo Borg. The two indulged in some intensive hitting during the session.

The official Instagram handle of The Royal Tennis Club of Stockholm, Sweden, posted a photo of the two players. The post was reshared by Bjorn Borg’s wife Patricia och Björn.
Shapovalov hits with Leo Borg in Sweden
Leo Borg joined Denis Shapovalov’s training session at The Royal Tennis Club of Stockholm, Sweden. After completing the session, the two posed for a photo, which was uploaded on the Instagram Handle of the club. The part of the caption read, “ Leo Borg had the chance to join a training session with ATP star Denis Shapovalov and his coach Jamie Delgado.”
Overwhelmed by seeing it, Leo’s mother and Bjorn Borg’s wife Patricia och Björn reposted the photo on her Instagram handle. She captioned the photo “Thank you Denis Shapovalov for today with Leo borg Best of luck next week!”

Currently ranked 2238, Leo is an 18-year-old ITF/ATP Challenger player. He started playing on the professional circuit in 2020. The player to date has played 6 ATP 250 events and a number of ATP Challenger events in his career.

Denis Shapovalov in the ATP Circuit
Current world number 12, Denis Shapovalov has been one of the fastest-growing players on the tour. The 22-year-old Shapovalov took just 3 years to enter the top 10 ATP rankings. Even though the Canadian has just one ATP title (2019 ATP 250 Stockholm) to his name right now, he has reached the final rounds of tournaments a number of times.
Shapovalov started his 2022 season at the ATP Cup. The latter lost just one match out of the four he played for his country, Canada. Having an outstanding performance at the ATP Cup, he entered the Australian Open as the 14th seed.

The Canadian surpassed some nail-biting matches, reaching the quarter-finals. However, he failed to stand against the 2022 Australian Open champion Rafael Nadal and lost against the Spaniard in 5 sets.
