Four Slams, four unique locations, but the task remains the same. They demand high-profile athleticism, tenacity, and a flair for winning. Australian Open is one of the toughest events on the calendar, all thanks to the extreme temperatures. The peak summer season poses a significant challenge for the players, opening a pandora’s box of physical challenges, at times resulting in the players conceding mid-match as well. In response, the Melbourne Slam unveiled the AO Heat Stress Scale in 2019, aimed at countering rising temperatures by responding with a structured hydration process for the players. To enhance its compatibility now, they have signed a multi-year deal with hydration revolutionist Waterdrop.

Waterdrop serves as an optimal answer to immense heat by providing water bottles with double-walled stainless steel bodies that can retain the cold temperature of liquids for up to 24 hours. With advanced features like an internal hydration tracker installed to promote better water intake, the Austrian company is on the right track. Even Taylor Fritz agrees. He wants to find a way around the sharp changes in weather conditions globally due to an increased environmental footprint. The World No. 4, after capping his dream season in style, is looking to invoke a healthy environmental change with his partnership with the Austrian company.

During an exclusive with Essentially Sports, Fritz stressed the importance of promoting sustainability. “It’s incredibly important. As athletes, we have a platform that reaches millions, and I believe we have a responsibility to use that to promote positive change. Sustainability and reducing our environmental footprint should be a priority for everyone, and partnering with waterdrop is one of the ways I can contribute to that effort. It’s about leading by example,” the 27-year-old said.

For those unaware, Fritz has been associated with Waterdrop since 2022. Naturally, he relies on their exclusive hydration products to stay on his feet. The US Open finalist even explained the benefits of Waterdrop’s products as he iterated his stance on staying firm with the cause.

Austrian hydration and wellness giant Waterdrop is far from taking its foot off the gas until the players experience a positive change in performance during high heat conditions in Melbourne. And, Taylor Fritz is looking forward to consuming their products for a less ‘stressing’ Australian Open campaign.

Fritz highlighted how Waterdrop’s innovative microdrink, infused with flavored extracts, work in his favor. “Staying hydrated is key, especially during the Australian summer, where the heat is intense. Waterdrop’s Microlyte flavors have been a game-changer for me,” the World No. 4 added.

With features like reusable stainless steel bottles and a bunch of cool flavors on offer, Waterdrop can likely change players’ conditions when they’re subjected to excruciating atmospheric conditions during showdowns. After all, the more the retention of fluids in the body, the better contestants perform and produce a thriller for their fans!
