‘Everybody’s Free to Do Whatever They Want’: Felix Auger Aliassime Calls for Tennis Community to Respect Novak Djokovic

Former World No. 1 Novak Djokovic is back on the circuit again. After all the troubles off the court, he is back to what he is best known for. 

The Serb was unable to compete in the Australian Open this year, a tournament he has enjoyed the most success. However, he was spotted at the Dubai Tennis Championships, where he began his journey this season.

Novak Djokovic has received support in this youngster 

Welcoming him back on the Tour was youngster Felix Auger Aliassime. The Canadian player felt it was great to have him back as he is one of the great ambassadors of our sport. 

Speaking on this subject, Felix stated, “I do think it’s good for the sport at the end of the day. I mean, he’s a great player to watch. And as long as he’s playing, it’s good for a sport that he steps on the court and competes with all of us. That is good for the sport. As for the vaccination, I think he really explained it well.”

Due to certain stances taken by Novak, he has to compromise on the number of tournaments he competes in. At the end of the day, he is prepared for it and one cannot be forced to do things. Auger Aliassime gave his verdict on this saga.

The 21-year-old added, “In the end, he is not the only one, everybody’s free to do whatever they want and we need to respect that for sure. But I think he really accepts what comes with it and I think that’s correct. You have to be free in the world to do what you want and accept what comes with it. And for me, that’s totally fine.”

Fans can be optimistic about the Canadian star 

Coming to tennis, Felix has started the season on a great note. Although he lost in the quarterfinal at the Australian Open, he put up a massive fight against Medvedev. Post that, he won the title in Rotterdam and lost in the final recently to Rublev at the Open 13.

Moving on to Djokovic, he began competing in Dubai but lost in the quarterfinal to Jiri Vesely. As a result, he lost the No. 1 ranking to Medvedev. Nonetheless, we wish him the best of luck and hope to see more of him this season.
