Rafael Nadal is currently the winner of the most number of Grand Slams. The 36-year-old is among the top three great players of the modern era. Due to his gigantic achievement as a player, the Spaniard is one of the most popular athletes in the world. Apart from the prize money he earns, the star tennis player also gets brand endorsements and plays exhibition matches as a source of income. His agent Carlos Costa plans all these activities for Nadal.

A similar exhibition match, which was planned for Nadal, had to be canceled after the negotiations fell through. The organizers are now planning to go for legal action.

The organizers Lisandro Borges and Arturo Alacahan claim that Nadal’s manager Carlos Costa managed the negotiations. However, he withdrew later. This has resulted in a significant amount of loss for them. The two had plans to bring Nadal to Argentina for an exhibition match, which is not going to happen now.

“One day, Nicolás Lapentti calls me. He’s a former tennis player and event planner, and he had negotiated a tour to take Nadal to Ecuador, also for his brother Giovanni to take him to Mexico, and there was a date in Chicago, but they needed a fourth date because of Nadal. For less than four dates, would not have come on the tour, for which 2.5 million euros would be paid on each date. For less than 10 million, he does not move,” Borges said.

Further, he warned of taking legal action.

“He believes he can do whatever he wants because he has Rafael Nadal behind him and I’ll tell you something. To bring a lawsuit against what is in my opinion the greatest sportsman in history, because his manager is a scoundrel, it does not amuse me, but the truth is that when someone causes you as much damage as this man caused us, we have no choice but to do it,” Borges added.

Rafael Nadal returns to practice

Rafael Nadal is having a brilliant 2022. The Spaniard started the year by claiming the Australian Open. Further, he conquered Roland Garros yet again. The 36-year-old was going strong in the Wimbledon Championships as well. However, an unfortunate injury meant he had to sit out and miss his semi-final match against Nick Kyrgios.

Notably, he suffered an abdominal tear in his quarterfinal match against Taylor Fritz that kept him out of action for 3-4 weeks. Recently, the star player made his way back to the hard court for practicing for the upcoming American swing.
