Holger Rune has had a dream run at the French Open 2022. However, his journey in the tournament was cut short by Casper Ruud of Norway. The latter prevailed in the quarterfinal battle in a hard-fought, four-set match. In the process, Ruud entered his maiden Grand Slam semifinal.
Earlier, Rune had become the first player from Denmark to reach the quarterfinals of the French Open in men’s singles. He had a giant-killing run at the tournament. Earlier, he had defeated the likes of Denis Shapovalov and Stefanos Tsitsipas en route to the quarterfinals.

However, he had a heart-breaking last-eight loss against Ruud. Subsequently, he wore a dejected look during the handshake and failed to congratulate his opponent. This incident led to a strong reaction from tennis fans.

Ruud’s journey ahead at the French Open 2022
After his quarterfinal victory over Holger Rune, Ruud will face Marin Cilic in the semifinals. The latter had defeated Andrey Rublev in the other quarterfinal earlier yesterday.
