Wimbledon Championship is only a few days away now. The third Grand Slam of the year is all set to begin without ATP and WTA ranking points. However, there’s no denying the fact that it has still garnered a good amount of interest. Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic is the favorite going into the competition. He is the defending champion and has won the last three editions of the tournament.

Notably, after a controversial exit from Australia, the Serb lost to Rafael Nadal in the quarterfinals of the French Open.

John McEnroe picks Novak Djokovic as his favorite to win Wimbledon

With the announcement of draws, it is clear that the path to the title will not be easy for the Serb. Speaking about his chances, McEnroe termed him a favorite going into the competition. However, he also expressed his concern about the 20-time Grand Slam winner’s performance since the Australian Open debacle.

“He’s been trying to get it back, so it’s sort of set up, at least for him now, to hopefully get his act back together. I’m not 100% sure. I think he’s the heavy favorite. Novak hopefully will play his best because it would be a shame that this continuation of what this debacle in Australia would continue to affect him,” he said.

Djokovic will start his campaign in Wimbledon on 27th June, with the first-round match against Kwon Soon-woo of South Korea.

The Serbian tennis star has done brilliantly in the grass court Grand Slam. 6 out of his 20 Grand Slam titles have come at Wimbledon. Also, the 35-year-old is on a winning streak at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, with three back-to-back titles.

While the Swiss tennis legend Roger Federer has got the most number of Wimbledon titles (8), the Serb stands third in the list after Pete Sampras and William Renshaw, who have won 7 titles each.
