The 22-time Grand Slam champion, Rafael Nadal, and his wife, Xisca Perello, welcomed their first child, a healthy baby boy, last year. However, it was not all a bed of roses for the couple. There was a time when the couple went through tough times owing to Xisca’s unknown complications; particularly during the US Open and also by his presence at the Laver Cup.

However, it was also during the same time that the Spaniard had to face harsh critics from tennis fans, for choosing tennis. Yes! During the US Open, Nadal’s wife, Xisca was in the hospital due to some complications. And during those crucial moments, Nadal chose to participate in Laver Cup; to accompany the 20-time Grand Slam champion, Roger Federer for his last tournament.

However, the choice that the 22-time Grand Slam champion made was fully supported by his wife, Xisca Perello.

When Rafael Nadal chose a tennis court for Roger Federer’s farewell

Recently, in an interview, the Spaniard opened up about his last year’s struggle, where his pregnant wife was in the hospital and he had to make a tough choice. But the choice wasn’t his alone. Nadal recently expressed his gratitude towards his wife, Xisca, who has been a constant in his life and encouraged him to play US Open 2022. Nadal said, “Luckily, I have a woman who is brave. And she has always helped me in everything I could and more, and she has always encouraged me to continue,”

Undoubtedly, the constant support made the journey easy for the Spaniard. And things worked out well for the couple, as they welcomed a healthy baby boy.

In addition, Nadal was present at the Laver Cup to support the Swiss Maestro as he marked an end to a beautiful journey. Moreover, the arch-rivals were on the same side of the court when the 20-time Grand Slam champion played his last tournament.

Nadal wholeheartedly celebrated Federer’s journey, as the Swiss drew the curtains on his professional career and it is worth mentioning that none of this could have been possible without the brave support of Xisca.
