Carlos Alcaraz and tennis legend Roger Federer. That, indeed, sounds like a dangerous combination, for all the right reasons. After all, the ‘Swiss Maestro’ has met with the young talent. You heard that right and naturally, it’s only fair for fans to forget about their first meet, seeing as they crossed paths five years ago. However, Alcaraz is looking to give fans a refresher. Only this time, the Spaniard hopes to create a lasting impression as he eagerly waits to engage in healthy conversations with the 20-time Grand Slam champion.

After a troubling end to his US Open campaign, wherein he faced a shock second-round exit, Alcaraz returned to the Davis Cup. Having seemingly restored his dropped form and delivered turnaround results, the Spanish star is all set to take on Team USA at the Laver Cup. While the upcoming task has lent excitement to the already crazed air around fans, Alcaraz is looking forward to something more. Being the sport’s formidable has perks, including a proper meet and greet with Swiss legend Federer.
Both players have interacted before. It happened when Alcaraz was merely a teenager, working his way to the top at Wimbledon in 2019. Encapsulating those unforgettable moments and further, thinking highly of his nascent meeting with Federer, the Spaniard has their sole photo captured together hanging in his room. Subsequently, while talking to the Spanish daily ‘Marca’, the former World No. 1 hoped to relive the “unique moment” of his link up with Federer once again at the Laver Cup.

I remember Wimbledon training as if it were yesterday. I won’t forget it in my life. It was a unique moment.”

Roger Federer plans to apologize to Carlos Alcaraz at Laver Cup
Roger Federer and apologies, never thought of using those two words in a single line. After all, the Swiss Maestro hardly ever crosses the line. However, to much surprise, not everything’s a first for the 43-year-old. When in distress, Federer can always own up to his mistakes, especially when it comes to his hilarious incident with Carlos Alcaraz five years ago.

Considering those amusing moments, as highlighted by the former World No. 1, Federer vowed to make reparations with the Spaniard at the highly-anticipated team event. “I only practiced once with him at Wimbledon when he was still a junior, and then the next day, my coach said, ‘Do you want to warm up with him again?’ and I said, ‘No, it’s okay, I’d rather warm up with his coach, who was my generation, Juan Carlos Ferrero.’ I can apologize to Carlos this week.”
The Laver Cup is slated to commence on September 20, with hot commodities such as Jannik Sinner, Alexander Zverev, Frances Tiafoe, Taylor Fritz, and many more ready to turn the heat up at the Berlin event.
