It’s hard to bid farewell to special players who have taken the sport to new heights. In the upcoming weeks, fans will be glued to their screens to watch their idol, Roger Federer, play for the last time. The Swiss Maestro will make his last appearance on the court in the upcoming Laver Cup. Ahead of his much-anticipated return to the court, legends like John McEnroe and Bjorn Borg recall their favorite moments.


The Laver Cup 2022 will be the last tournament of Federer’s illustrious career, with the Swiss Maestro having already confirmed that he will retire following the tournament. Federer joins a star-studded Team Europe that includes the likes of Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray at the O2 arena in London.

Two of the greatest Hall of Famers of the sport, Bjorn Borg and John McEnroe, are mentoring the two teams (Team World & Team Europe) at the 2022 Laver Cup in London. The energetic duo weren’t shy with their praise and admiration when recollecting their past encounters with Federer.

During their chat with EuroSport, McEnroe recalled, “When Bjorn and I went to Asia with Roger and in an exhibition tour and the week before at the ATP finals he got sick and wasn’t able to finish the event, we both thought he’s going to retire and not play you know pull out and he played” and he added about how much Roger loved the traveling, the press conferences and just being around people.

The Swiss Maestro has everyone in awe with his charismatic presence

John McEnroe, with a sparkling smile on his face, recalled watching Federer play for more than 500 times and every time he was impressed with his skills. “You’re obviously a Class Act, I’ve loved watching you play, commentating your matches has been a privilege and you are the most beautiful player that I’ve ever seen on a tennis.”
