Caspr Ruud won the Austrian Open in Kitzbuhel on Saturday the 31st of July. He beat Pedro Martinez in the finals by a score line of 6-1, 4-6, 6-3. However, the win in Kitzbuhel was a reply to Nick Kyrgios after his comment on Ruud’s Twitter handle.
Kyrgios made an unusual and unnecessary comment on Paul Ruud’s mother, as a result of which Paul did not hold back. The Norwegian has replied in superb form and also used a few words to hurt the Aussie.

On Saturday, Casper Ruud completed his third clay court title in three weeks. He won consecutive titles since Bastad, Gstaad and now Kitzbuhel. He is the first player to do so since Andy Murray achieved this feat in 2011, in Bangkok, Tokyo and Shanghai. Ruud saw this moment of opportunity to reply to Kyrgios in his own style.
“I have nothing to say. I’m here, I won three titles in three weeks while he stays at home most of the year,” said Ruud after his win in Kitzbuhel.

Casper Ruud’s 2021
The 22-year old Norwegian has won three titles in 2021. He has won a total of four titles in his career. He is enjoying a brilliant 31-9 win-loss record in 2021 and will be aiming for a strong finish at the US Open later in August.
In an apparent situation, Ruud has only won clay court tournaments in his career so far. The final in Kitzbuhel was a tough one as rain interfered during their game. “It was tough… we know that the weather was a bit shaky so I was prepared [for the delay]. It was a bit long there in the end. We came back, only played three games, and then we had to stop again. It was a bit annoying, but we had to keep the focus and try your best. It’s the same for the opponent,” said Ruud about the situation in Austria.
