‘I Blocked It Out’ – Roger Federer Interjects Novak Djokovic as He Talks About Wimbledon 2019 Finals Win After Saving 2 Match Points

It was the final of the Wimbledon Championships in 2019. Swiss maestro, Roger Federer, had entered the final of the tournament and was bidding to win a record 21st Grand Slam title. However, up against him was the top seed, Novak Djokovic, who was in great form that season.
Further, the two played one of the greatest matches at the Wimbledon Championships as Djokovic defeated Federer in five sets to win the 2019 Wimbledon title. Moreover, he did so by saving two match points. Recently, Djokovic recounted some of his most memorable matches against the Swiss maestro.

Novak Djokovic talks about his favorite matches against Roger Federer
Federer and Djokovic are in London to participate in the Laver Cup. During an interview at the tournament, Djokovic was asked about which match came to his mind when thinking about his battles against Federer.
Replying to this question, Djokovic said, “I’ll pick my first Grand Slam finals, US Open 2007. I lost that match.” Subsequently, Federer joked by saying, “He’s being nice now. Thank You Novak,” as they burst into laughter.

Further, Djokovic continued, saying, “I haven’t finished with it.” Federer followed by saying, “We gotta get to the other 20 plus matches.”
Djokovic talked about his experience of playing against Federer, saying, “That was the first Grand Slam final obviously. It was a remarkable experience for me at the time and kind of a first match that allowed me to believe that I belonged to that level and then 2019, sorry Roger finals of Wimbledon.”

However, Federer interrupted him, saying, “What happened? I blocked it out.”

Djokovic’s maiden Grand Slam final
In his third appearance at the US Open in 2007, Djokovic managed to reach the final of the tournament. It was his first major final appearance, and he was up against the top seed, Roger Federer, in the summit clash.

The Swiss maestro went on to win that match in straight sets to lift the US Open trophy. With this win, Federer lifted his fourth consecutive US Open title and 12th Grand Slam title overall.
