“I Have the Game to Face Him”: Stefanos Tsitsipas Warns Novak Djokovic Ahead of Their Quarterfinal Clash at Italian Open 2021

World No.1 Novak Djokovic has led a really brilliant campaign at the Italian Open 2021 so far. He recently defeated Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in straight sets in the round of 16 of the tournament. The final scoreline of the match was 6-2, 6-1. Interestingly, he’ll next face Stefanos Tsitsipas in the quarters.
On the other hand, World No.5 Stefanos Tsitsipas too thrashed Matteo Berrettini in the pre-quarters of the Italian Open 2021. The Greek player played a fabulous match and defeated the Italian player in straight sets. The final scoreline of the match was 7(7)-6(3), 6-2.
In the post-match interview, Tsitsipas revealed that he always likes to play against Novak Djokovic. He also warned the Serbian legend that he has got the game to face him and he’ll give his 100 percent in the match.

“I have been playing well and it is always special to face Novak. I have the game to face him on clay. It’s important to start fresh and go for something big, I will give everything. He likes to play against me,” said Tsitsipas in the interview.
Tsitsipas clearly looks ready to face the man in form Djokovic. He even admitted that the Serbian likes to play against him and thus, it’ll be an intriguing battle to watch for the fans as well.

After dominating the entire match against Fokina, Djokovic spoke about his performance in the post-match interview. Interestingly, he also talked about Tsitsipas and said that it would be tough for him since the 23-year-old recently won the Monte Carlo Masters 2021 title.
“I thought I played well. He started well and broke my serve in the first game. I made some errors, but I managed to break back right away and establish the control and consistency on the court…My next match will be against a Top 10 player, so it is going to be a battle. Tsitsipas won Monte-Carlo… I am obviously going to do my best to win that match,” said Djokovic in the interview.

Djokovic surely had the confidence that Tsitsipas would beat Berrettini as he said all this before Tsitsipas’ match. He also highlighted that he would also give his best in the quarter-finals.
