‘I Hold No Grudges’ – Novak Djokovic Keeps No Hate and Hopes for a Return to Australia Amid the Recent Government Change

The 35-year-old and current world no. 1 tennis player, Novak Djokovic, spoke about his chances to feature in the Australian Open in the future. Notably, the 35-year-old could not take part in this year’s Australian Open because of his COVID-19 vaccination stand. But the Serb has let bygones be bygones and is already looking forward to making the most of the season.

However, Novak has his hopes high now, as the government in Australia changed recently.

Novak Djokovic Hopes to Have His Australian Visa Reinstated

The 20-time Grand Slam winner had a controversial start to the 2022 season. As the Serb was not allowed to defend his Australian Open title. However, while speaking to the media after winning his match against Aljaz Bedene in the ongoing French Open. The 35-year-old said that he would love to go back to Australia if the new government allows him to go back and play there.

“I heard the news about the Australian government changing, but I don’t know what it means for my visa being reinstated. I would love to go to Australia again, I hold no grudges.” He said.

Notably, according to the visa policies of Australia, Novak cannot be granted a visa for the next three years. However, with the change in government, it might be possible now for the World No. 1.

Out of all the Grand Slam events, the Australian Open is the favorite hunting ground for the 35 years old. He has won a record 9 Australian Open titles in his illustrious career. Which includes three back-to-back titles from the year 2019-2021.

The Serbian tennis star won his first title in the island nation back in the year 2008. And has been a consistent performer ever since. He reclaimed the title in the year 2011 and defended it for the next two years. Djokovic won the title again in the years 2015, 2016, 2019,2020, and 2021.

However, with the visa rules and Djokovic’s stand over the Covid-19 vaccination. It is all but uncertain if we will witness the best player of the Australian Open competing again in the tournament.
