“I Need Shoes”: Andy Murray Runs Out of Shoes During Intense Battle Against Stefanos Tsitsipas at US Open R1

The US open 2021 couldn’t have started with a better match. Tennis fans are currently witnessing an intense encounter between World No.3 Stefanos Tsitsipas and former US Open champion, Andy Murray in four sets. The scoreline of the match so far has been 6-2, 6(7)-7(9).
After the second set, something peculiar took place. Andy Murray started complaining about his shoes as he was constantly slipping on the surface of the Arthur Ashe arena at the US Open 2021.

“I need shoes and I don’t have any other shoes,” said Murray while going to the bench after losing the second set.
It is quite intriguing that Murray was actually demanding shoes from the crowd as well. He was clearly frustrated with his sweat-soaked trainer shoes as he was not able to maintain his balance on the court.

Set-1: Andy Murray stuns Stefanos Tsitsipas
Stefanos Tsitsipas began the first set on a high note as he won the first game quite easily. However, Andy Murray bounced back and equalized the scoreline at 1-1 in very next game.

Interestingly, Murray broke in third game, and then won his next service game to take his lead to 3-1 at then of the fourth game. He broke yet again in the sixth game to widen the margin at 4-1 and then won the subsequent game as well.

Tsitsipas was completely stunned as Murray won five games in a row. Even though the World No.3 player won the seventh game to narrow down the margin to 5-2, it was perhaps too late. Serving for the set in the eighth game, Murray sealed the set 6-2 in 43 minutes.
Set-2: Stefanos Tsitsipas survives a close tie-breaker
Tsitsipas again took an early 1-0 lead after winning the first game quite easily. However, Murray leveled the scoreline with he help of a beautiful forehand in the following game. The same story continued as the one who served continued to win. As a result, the scoreline soon became 4-4.
Murray came so close to break past Tsitsipas but the Greek player saved two break-points in the ninth game and again took the lead. However, he also failed to break Murray and thus, the set reached the tie-breaker.

In the tie-breaker, Tsitsipas saved two set-points, finally won the set on his second set-point. Therefore, he equalized the set scoreline at 1-1.
