It’s immensely unfortunate to see Kyrgios retiring midway from the match. Also, it’s a reflection on what he wants to do with the loads of talent he displays on a tennis court.
Having entered Wimbledon without expectation, the 2014 quarter-finalist surprised fans with a thrilling victory over the reigning Halle Open champion Ugo Humbert. It was Kyrgios second straight victory over the Frenchman.
As a result of his unfortunate withdrawal, the prospect of Kyrgios continuing the mixed-doubles with Venus Williams is also in jeopardy. Even though the Australian is yet to announce the decision, it seems highly unlikely that he will continue playing at SW19.
