It was the 2021 Wimbledon. Roger Federer was up against Hubert Hurkacz who was gradually on the rise. However, given Federer’s record on the grass courts, few gave a chance to the Polish tennis ace. It turned out to be a memorable encounter for Hurkacz as he overpowered the Swiss maestro in straight sets. The eye-catching thing was the fact that he inflicted a bagel upon Federer in the third set.
It turned out to be the last match that Federer played that season, as he was kept on the sidelines because of his injury issues. Although Hurkacz lost his subsequent match against Matteo Berrettini in the semifinals of Wimbledon, the 25-year-old gave glimpses of the potential that he has. Currently, he is in Miami to take part in the Miami Open. He has reached the quarterfinals and is looking in brilliant touch.
