Stefanos Tsitsipas reveals he’s ready to face Carlos Alcaraz

During a post-match interview after his third-round win, Tsitsipas spoke about facing Alcaraz in the next round and how he’ll avenge his US Open defeat against him. He said, “Well, I’m gonna try and fight. He is a great player and for me, it is going to be a big challenge to step out on the court. I like these kind of challenges and I’m gonna try and put my soul out there and give it my all.”

Last year, Carlos Alcaraz caused a major upset at the US Open. He knocked out the third seed, Stefanos Tsitsipas, in the third round. It was a thrilling contest, going down right to the wire. However, the Spaniard prevailed in the deciding set tiebreaker to win one of the biggest matches of his career back then.

Further, Alcaraz is in scintillating form this season. He clinched the Rio Open title earlier this year. Additionally, he had a memorable week in Indian Wells, reaching the semifinals of the BNP Paribas Open. However, he couldn’t get past his compatriot, Rafael Nadal, in the last-four clash. He is yet to drop a set so far in Miami, beating Marin Cilic 6-4, 6-4 in his third round.
