The 24-year-old is in Paris to take part in the French Open 2022. He won his opening-round match against Santiago Fa Rodriguez Taverna of Argentina. Recently, Fritz was disappointed with a publication house after it had an inappropriate title to an article on him. Subsequently, he vented his frustration.

Taylor Fritz clarifies his comments

The Indian Wells champion took to Twitter to call out a journalist for the misleading title. He said, “Yo I’m actually never answering questions in press again this title is ABSOLUTELY WILD…. Tell me where I called on anybody to have crazy “mega outbursts”, let me clarify my stance officially.”

Further, he went on to add, “I think being crazy/animated/interacting w crowd is entertaining and there shud be leeway for players to do it without worry of being fined, AS LONG as OBVIOUSLY the players actions don’t put anyone else in harms way, that is not okay and should be punished harder then it’s been.”

Fritz off to a winning start in Paris

The 24-year-old had to dig deep to win his first-round match at the French Open against qualifier, Santiago Fa Rodriguez Taverna. In a match lasting just over three and a half hours, Fritz prevailed over the Argentine in a five-setter thriller. Specifically, it was a topsy-turvy match with the American winning the first-set tiebreaker to clinch the set, 7-6 (2).

However, Taverna came back strongly to level the match, winning the second set, 6-3. Further, Fritz won the third set 6-3 before his Argentine opponent again leveled the match by winning the fourth set, 6-4. In the deciding set, Fritz was dominant from the very start as he took the set 6-4 to enter the next round.

In the second round, Fritz will take on Bernabe Zapata Miralles of Spain.
