“Never Forgot to Return the Ball”: Mother Lynette, Rafael Nadal, Anna Wintour and Others Raise a Toast to Roger Federer

Roger Federer, arguably the greatest tennis player of all time, continues to receive tributes in the form of messages and videos sent in from all corners of the globe. The day he made the announcement that he would be retiring from the sport, admirers could not stop showering him with well-wishes.

A French exquisite vineyard by the name of Moet & Chandon paid their most recent respects to the tennis player who has won twenty Grand Slam titles. It is both one of the most well-known champagne houses in the world and one of the largest manufacturers of champagne in the entire industry. In addition to that, it is the champagne of choice for several prestigious tennis competitions.

The French winery curated a video to honor the Swiss Maestro featured some very popular personalities. Each one of them in the clip said something very endearing about their beloved tennis star.

Initiating a toast to the man of the hour, South African rugby player Siya Kolisi said, “Today, I would like to make a toast to a man who changed the course of history, actually, the history of the court”.

Then his longtime adversary and close friend Nadal addressed him, saying, “To the best rival who’s always played like a gentleman”. Following him states Rod Laver, “To the champion who celebrated each Grand Slam just as the first”.

Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of Vogue, adds, “To a man who is full of surprises, both on the court and off the court”. Finally, Federer’s mother gives voice to her thoughts and feelings. Lynette Federer proudly says, “To my son, who never forgot to return the ball”.

At the end of the conversation, Siya Kolisi said, “Let us all, make a toast to Roger, here’s to you my friend.”

Since 2013, Federer has represented Moet & Chandon as the brand ambassador. In 2018, the company released a unique limited edition of 20 magnum bottles titled “Greatness since 1998” to commemorate Roger Federer’s career spanning two decades as a tennis ace. The Roger Federer Foundation, which works to improve the lives of disadvantaged children and young adults, received all the money made from the sale of the unique bottles.
