With the Australian Open fast approaching, fans are waiting patiently for an official announcement from Novak Djokovic and his team regarding their journey to the land down under. Djokovic, who initially signed up for the ATP Cup, pulled out of the event and is currently practicing in Marbella, Spain.

Ever since the 2021 ATP Finals, the Serbian star was asked repeatedly over his decision to play the ‘happy slam’. But, Djokovic remains tight-lipped and is silently going about his duties ahead of the main event.

Little fan wishes best of luck to Novak Djokovic ahead of the Australian Open

In Spain, the world no.1 chose to practice with the Australian Open balls as it gave a clear hint regarding Novak’s intentions. Now, a little fan’s wish after a practice session with Djokovic drops yet another indication.

Good luck in Australian Open”, wishes the fan as Djokovic replied, “Thank you very much. You’re very kind”.

This could well be an innocent wish from a fan as she wants to see Novak Djokovic lift his 21st major title in Melbourne. The Serb’s warm reaction towards the young girl might not confirm his journey but proves that Novak at least wants to travel to Australia.

Craig Tiley recently revealed details regarding Djokovic’s participation

Recently, Tennis Australia CEO Craig Tiley said that a better picture related to Djokovic’s participation will be revealed in the coming days.

As far as the status relates to Novak, I think we’ll have a much clearer picture in the coming days otherwise it’s getting pretty late to show up and play the Australian Open. There’s quite a bit to play out and I think it will play out in the coming days”.

Tiley made it clear before that the Serbian star won’t be given any special exemption to play in Melbourne and he will have to abide by the Victorian state government’s rules just like any other player.

However, it remains to be seen whether Tiley will reveal the list of athletes who received medical exemption (if any) to participate in the event. At the moment, there are only speculations and no confirmation regarding Djokovic’s Australian Open participation.
