Novak Djokovic is back on the court as he played his first match at the Cincinnati Open earlier today after a month of being away. The Serb gets too absorbed while he plays that he even forgets to pick the right ball boy. In the ATP Masters last year, Djokovic picked the wrong ball boy to accompany him, and the commentator joked saying he needs to pick the kid on the right to do right. His opponent Stefanos Tsitsipas forgot to take the ball boy altogether, which resulted in a hilarious start to the match. In Djoker’s recent match, he found a loving yet fun way to pass the time on the court, which made the crowd go crazy at his action.

Novak Djokovic sends his love to a fan in the stands and also to his colleague

In the first round of the Cincinnati Open, Djoker found a peculiar pass time that caught a fan off guard. He blew a kiss to a fan, who was right behind the poster of Hubert Hurkacz. When the lady asked to blow the kiss once again so that she could record the moment, the Serb granted her the wish.

The video was uploaded on the official account of ‘Tennis TV,’ with the caption, “Passing the time, Djoker-style.” Djokovic shared this clip on his Instagram story and tagged Hurkacz, writing that the kiss was directed at the Polish professional. He expressed, “@hubihurkacz 😘is for you 🤣.”

The Serb also commented on the Instagram post of Tennis TV, saying, “I was actually blowing a kiss 💋 to @hubihurkacz ❤️😍😂.” The Serbian legend’s entertaining act was a breather in the match that disappointed the audience with the injury of Djoker’s opponent, and the match ended soon.

Djoker advanced to the second round as his opponent retires

The ATP 2nd seed encountered Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in his first round. The Serb won the first set 6-4. In the second set, Fokina took a medical timeout as his back hurt but could not resume the match. With 46 minutes remaining in the second set, the young Spaniard walked out of the match.

Djokovic will play Gael Monfils in his second round tomorrow. The two have faced each other 18 times on the court. The stats are insane, as Monfils could not even manage a single win against the Serb to date. Will the dominance of Djokovic continue? Let us know in the comments.

My journey as a sports writer could not have been more hyperbolic. Growing up, I buried myself in books and could not play any sport I wanted. So, I channeled my passion towards watching them extensively and imitating the players. My Master’s degree in Applied Psychology helped me understand the dynamics and thought processes of athletes. I enjoy watching the interviews of my favorite athletes as much as I enjoy their games. Gaining athletes’ perspectives helped me understand their gameplay better and why they chose a certain shot or made a specific decision. As an English literature and Journalism graduate, I tend to research extensively and store a lot of information that threatens to exhaust my memory. At ES, I have focused on writing elaborate perspectives, reporting interviews, controversial topics, and coresport news along with the occasional pop culture article. Movies, series, fiction, food, music, and painting are a few of the many things that keep my sanity in check. I highly anticipate current-generation tennis champions to spice the game up and create more on-court rivalries. I hope Coco Gauff, Iga Swiatek, Jannik Sinner, Taylor Fritz, and Carlos Alcaraz achieve their best and carve a place for themselves among the tennis legends.
