Novak Djokovic Wary of His Place in History as He Makes Poignant Federer and Nadal Confession – ‘Not Everyone Can Like Me’

After a resounding success at the ATP World Tour Finals, Novak Djokovic has once again ended the year as number one this season. He is now preparing to be a part of the Davis Cup where he will be representing his nation and has time and again defined winning the Davis Cup as his ultimate goal. However, his recent comment on his place in the world of Tennis has got quite an attention!

However, before all that goes down, Djokovic was part of an interview where he talked about his position in the tennis world. During the interview, he discussed where he stands in the eyes of the fans as compared to the other two players in the panel of the Big 3.

Before Djokovic ended the year with a forever mark on all the tennis enthusiasts at Davis Cup, he made himself available for an interview where he talked about where he stands when being compared with Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. He was asked about the time when the two players were active and he was kind of a new one trying to make his place in the Big 3. And how his position has changed since Nadal and Federer stopped playing.

To which he candidly responded, “Nadal and Federer were already rivals before I appeared. At first, I tried to get into that rivalry. Normally the ideal rivalry is between two, so I understand that people probably didn’t want that. In the end, we have shared the stage for about 15 years, we have played matches with each other, and we have been the best in the world for a long time. I know that not everyone can like me, but I think a lot of people respect what I have achieved, my contribution to tennis and its history. That is the most fundamental thing that a person can receive from another.

His response showed that he knows that people idolize Nadal and Federer more than him obviously. And that he has no shame in accepting this fact and still being the best just like he is. This shows integrity and dignity despite what people may think of him.

Despite the view of the people about him, his confidence in himself remains unshaken as he has already set goals for himself for the coming year.

In 2023, Djokovic won 3 of the major grand slams. He also won his 7 ATP World Tour Finals title this year. Along with that, he also had a record-tying 24 grand slam title win for himself. Despite all that he has achieved so far and ended the year as number one, the Serbian continues to have better goals for the coming year.

In a recent interview with Forbes, he revealed that in 2024, he would like to win all four major grand slams. And not just that, but along with the grand slams, he would also like to bring the Olympic gold medal back for his home country in tennis. He has set his goals for beyond.
