Novak Djokovic really is full of surprises. While some disappoint fans, others bring immense joy. The Serbian capped the last season with a tour title deficit but, concluded his dream Olympic quest. He won the elusive gold by downing Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz in Paris. However, he needs a refined act to further his tour record. With the target set to add a record 25th Slam to his resume, the Serb hinted at a symbolic gesture ahead of his Australian Open bid.

Dedicated to bringing about a healthy change to his performance, the Serb introduced arch-rival Andy Murray as his coach. The Briton, known for his tactical knowledge, would serve as a great help in providing critical insight to Nole for his 2025 calendar campaign. After kicking off the year by representing Team Serbia at the United Cup, Djokovic jetted to Brisbane for the season-opening touring commitment. Upon his arrival in the city, a peculiar accessory by his side didn’t go unnoticed by fans.

The ‘Djoker’ was seen carrying a Pokemon-inspired backpack. His quirky choice particularly stood out while he carried the same with his regular luggage at the airport. Subsequently, fans were quick to take notice of the bag and many reported that Pikachu’s National Pokedex Number is 25. Putting two and two together, it wasn’t long before fans concluded that Nole’s choice of the backpack resonated with his historic pursuit for a 25th Major in Melbourne.

The symbolism was later taken up by the reporters in Brisbane. Hoping to get a confirmation of fans’ claims, Djokovic was asked multiple questions surrounding the same to which he said, “All I can say is my kids, particularly my son, loves Pikachu. It’s his bag. But I was carrying it on my bag going out from the airport.” The former World No. 1 also acknowledged the online chatter regarding the symbolic move: “I have seen. It makes me laugh. I love it.”
