Over the past decade, if there’s an ATP tennis star who has been consistently dominant on the tour, it’s Novak Djokovic. By defeating Rafael Nadal in the French Open and winning his 19th grand slam title, the Serb is just one title away from equaling the slam record.
Even in the upcoming Wimbledon Championships, Djokovic appears to be the clear favorite on men’s side. With younger players underperforming on grass, there is no real competition for the Serb going into Wimbledon.

While Roger Federer will still be a major threat, the Swiss star’s fluctuating form on grass and lack of match practice will haunt him at SW19. The reason for Djokovic’s long-lasting success is his all-round game.
“The best returner I have ever seen” -Paul Annacone lauds Novak Djokovic
The Serb can easily switch between offense and defensive styles of play and is one of the best returners in the modern sport. Talking about Djokovic’s return game, Paul Annacone, former coach of Federer, opined that Novak is the best returner the game has ever seen.
“Djokovic is amazing. The best returner I have ever seen in the game. And also one of the best strategists you’ll ever see”, said Annacone in a podcast.

Another aspect of Djokovic’s game that will stand the test of time is how he plans to play big points. Whenever he is down by a break or a set point, the Serb always produced high-level of tennis with immense determination.
On the basis of current form, it’s suffice to say that the world number one will continue to rule the roost for a couple of years, to say the least. Even though the next-gen players were able to defeat Djokovic in Masters tournaments, they are unable to sustain the momentum for five sets.
The latest final at Roland Garros is a prime example for the same. By the end of two sets, Stefanos Tsitsipas gave it all and hoped that Djokovic will lose the third set. But, the defiance shown by Djokovic in outlasting the Greek to win the title will be discussed for years to come.
