“Prefer To Be on Court”: Andy Murray Opens Up on His Life After Retirement

Former World No.1 Andy Murray played a phenomenal match against Spain’s rising star, Carlos Alcaraz, and defeated him in the second round of the Indian Wells Masters 2021. Even though the British player lost the first set, he made an incredible comeback against the Spaniard. The final scoreline of the match was 5-7, 6-3, 6-2.

Andy Murray looked quite dominant in the second and third set. He converted four of his eleven break-points and thus, managed to battle past Alcaraz. His performance against Alcaraz was another in a line of impressive outings by the Brit, who looks to be regaining momentum.

In a recent interview with the Tennis Channel, Murray recalled his experience in the commentary box during the Wimbledon Championships 2018. Surprisingly, he wasn’t a fan of the experience, as he mentioned that he always wants to be on the court, playing or coaching and helping instead of spending time in the commentary box.

“I prefer to be on court, coaching and helping than in the studio talking,” said Murray in the interview.

Clearly, Murray’s comments point towards the fact that after his eventual retirement, we’re much more likely to see him in a coaching position rather than as an analyst or commentator.

Murray will face Zverev next in the third round of the Indian Wells Masters 2021

After successfully beating Mannarino and Alcaraz, the path of the Indian Wells Masters 2021 will be becoming tougher for Murray now. He entered the tournament as a wildcard and has now reached the third round of the ATP Masters 1000 tournament for the first time since 2016.

Intriguingly, Murray will encounter Alexander Zverev in the third round of the tournament. Head-to-Head, the German is yet to win a match against Murray and thus, the 3-time Grand Slam winner currently leads the battle 2-0.
