There is some really positive news coming for the fans of Rafael Nadal. The Spaniard will be playing at the ATP Washington Open 2021 for the first time. It is some great news as fans will be witnessing Rafa back on the court after a period of almost two months.

The Washington Open 2021, also called the Citi Open 2021 will begin on July 31, 2021- just one week after the Tokyo Olympics 2021. It will conclude on August 8, 2021, and will take place on hard courts.

Nadal has already begun his preparations for the US Open 2021. Fans have already watched him practicing on the hard court and now, he surely wants to play some matches before the Grand Slam in order to regain his form and momentum.

Nadal got off to a pretty decent start in the 2021 tennis season. He played well at the Australian Open 2021 but choked in the match against Stefanos Tsitsipas in the quarter-finals and therefore, failed to win the title.

He won the ATP Barcelona Open 500 title after defeating Tsitsipas in the finals and then went on to achieve his ‘La Decima’ at the Italian Open 2021. However, the clay-court season ended on an upsetting note for him as he lost to Novak Djokovic in the semis of the French Open 2021 and failed to retain his title.

After that, Nadal has not played a professional match. He is surely targetting the US Open 2021 now and fans also expect him to win his 21st title there. Will he able to conquer New York for the fifth time this year?
