Roger Federer is one of the greatest tennis players in the history of tennis. The former World No.1 has won 20 Grand Slam titles in his professional career. Recently, he appeared at Laver Cup 2021 in Boston, America where he received an overwhelming reception from the crowd. Moreover, Federer spent some quality time with the ball kids and even answered their intriguing questions.

In Boston, Federer interacted and posed for a photograph with the ball kids. After the picture, he was asked by one of the ball kids about his most nervous moment on the court.

To this question, Roger told the kids that it had to be the 2009 Roland Garros finals. After Rafael Nadal lost in the fourth round, Federer knew it was his only shot at the title as his clay-court record isn’t as impressive. Eventually, the Swiss Maestro got the better of his nerves as he claimed the 2009 French Open title with a win over Soderling in the final.

Federer’s 2009 season
Roger Federer started his 2009 year with a tally of 13 grand slam titles. He started his tour with a defeat in the finals of the Australian Open against Rafael Nadal. The Spaniard won a hot five-set contest against the Swiss. In French Open 2009, Federer magnificently reached the final.

After Nadal’s shocking defeat against Soderling in the fourth round, Federer became the favorite to win the French Open. Delivering on the promise, the Swiss beat Soderling in straight sets to conquer his only French Open title in his career.
Federer then entered the Championships, where he also won the title defeating Andy Roddick in the final. After capturing the title at Wimbledon, he broke the all-time record of Pete Sampras with 15 grand slam titles.

At US Open 2009, he cruised to the final, defeating Soderling and Djokovic on his way. However, he lost to Juan Del Potro. Federer ended his 2009 with the ranking of World No. 1 for the fifth time in his career.
